My Mission Statement
I'm second generation in a family that has bought or built over two dozen successful firms. As I transitioned to financial services after working in our family firm, I was struck by the common struggles and the incredible rewards other families also found in owning a business together.
My hope is to provide some insight into the dynamics of family-owned businesses based on my work with some of the most successful families over the last three decades. I firmly believe that understanding the unique relationship between the family and the business social system is key to achieving lasting success.
My book, Barrel of Rattlesnakes: Disentangling Family-Business Dynamics, explores those differing systems and presents a Four Practice Framework based on the best practices of successful families that own businesses.
